Keep a reference beside the page you are working on. Give either side more space without switching tabs.
Get started
Put both pages in sight.
- Open two website tabs.
Start with the page you want to work on and the reference you want beside it.
- Choose the second page.
Use the split-view button beside the address bar, or right-click a tab and choose Open in Split View.
- Make room for the details.
Drag the divider. Click either page to focus it; the address bar and Page tools follow the active pane.
Keyboard controls
Small adjustments. No guesswork.
Focus the divider with the keyboard. Use Left/Right for side-by-side pages, or Up/Down for stacked pages.
- Arrow key
- Resize by 1 percentage point.
- Shift + Arrow key
- Resize by 5 percentage points.
- Home / End
- Set the first pane to 25% / 75%.
- Enter or double-click
- Reset to equal panes.
- Escape during a drag
- Cancel the drag and restore the saved proportion.
What happens in the recording
Two local example pages start at an even split. A mouse drag gives the implementation about two-thirds of the space. Two Shift + Left adjustments narrow it again. A double-click restores equal panes.
The split menu also switches to a stacked layout, swaps the pages, and returns to one page. Your pair, layout, order, and proportion survive a restart. Selecting a third tab exits the pair; closing either pane gives the remaining page the full area.
